Mrs. Lara Riley
My first teaching job ever was at Helen Keller School. I began in 1995 with the youngest class of hearing impaired students, and absolutely LOVED it! In 2009 my husband’s job moved us to Baldwin county, and while there - I did teach a couple of years in a public elementary school. But my heart missed HKS. In 2015, my family was able to move back to the area, and I was blessed to be hired back to my first love (professionally speaking). Overall, I’ve enjoyed teaching students from as young as 3 years old, to as old as 16.
Personally, I’m married with a 16 year-old daughter. We live in Chelsea, Alabama, and thankful to be near both my husband’s family and mine. I enjoy reading Christian fiction, geocaching, making small craft projects...and ending each day with a quiet bubble bath. :-)
Aside from teaching (you know all teachers have extra duties, right?), I'm also
- the yearbook adviser (our AWESOME publisher is https://yearbooks.picaboo.com/)
- site director of the website (https://www.aidb.org/hks)
- lead editor of the Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/AIDBHelenKellerSchool/)
And just to share materials I’ve created, I have a page on https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Md-Time-Savers
For Remote Teaching, I created this page for sharing links with my class: http://www.symbaloo.com/mix/
Yes, I do stay busy...and if you’re looking for educational websites that I recommend, click here.
Below is my class from the 2019-20 school year...we had lots of fun with our Lego theme!
